SABEW receives $50,000 challenge grant

The Society of American Business Editors and Writers has received a $50,000 grant sponsored by the Ethics and Excellence in Journalism Foundation, the Ford Foundation, the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation, and the McCormick Foundation, a Challenge Fund for Journalism V (CFJ V) grant.

This grant will match each eligible dollar SABEW raises up to $50,000. The match will double your dollars, and if you have a corporate matching program, that would add to your own gift.

Timing of your gift is important: Funds for this challenge grant must be raised by Aug. 6, 2009, in order to receive the matching gift.

SABEW executive director Carrie Paden and one SABEW board member will attend a two-day orientation on Aug. 5-6, in Chicago. Part of the orientation will involve one-on-one coaching sessions to discuss plans for capacity building and fundraising with each organization lasting approximately 45 minutes to one hour.

This challenge grant will support more training that will benefit the next generation of business journalists.
